Mixed Media; Pyrography, batik fabric, acrylic in on wood panel

I use batik fabric to create my bright and colourful pieces. If you look closely, you’ll see that each blade of grass, leaf, flower, is cut and adhered individually. So basically, I’m painting with fabric. There are many layers to my work: I begin with a background of acrylic ink, then add layers of fabric and more ink to create a picture. I complete it by outlining shapes with black ink, then sealing the piece with a gloss medium, which provides protection but also makes the colours pop.
