Pitcher – Chestnut Collared Longspur with Wolf Willow and Wild Robe

Melanie Graven's pottery is what happens when an interpretive naturalist is also a potter. Her process begins outdoors where she works as a treeplanter and where every stolen moment is spent.
What goes into her eyes begins as a pencil sketch onto leather hard clay which is followed by glazing and carving.
Her work is crafted of the very clay that forms the grasslands that she tells the stories of. Perhaps this is the why of the way her pots nest so kindly in the hands and hearts of prairie and pottery lovers alike.
