Llama wool (Annette Neustaedter and Ron Srhmil), Clun Forest and Dorset sheep blend Superfine Wool (Loch Lomond Wool Products), chokecherry bark dye; weaving, dyeing
56 x 180 cm
"These works were natural dyed from locally foraged vegetation and handwoven using yarn made from Saskatchewan raised llamas and sheep. With support from a SK Arts Micro Grant, the artist tested sixteen types of vegetation to create a spectrum of yellow, green, tan, pink, orange, and grey hues used to dye the yarn. Pieces were handwoven in her Regina studio using natural hues and dyed yarn. Each piece was designed using Fibreworks PCW software, and woven on a Leclerc Colonial 1 floor loom and finished by fulling, hemming, and twisting fringes. The fleeces were processed by Custom Woolen Mills and That Darn Yarn Shop and Fibre Mill."
