“Prairie Rest” is a fused glass piece reflecting the quiet solitude and understated beauty of the prairie. Often dismissed as flat, the prairie reveals richness to those who pause - the rustle of grasses, shifting light, and subtle textures stretching across the horizon. As a prairie woman, I feel deeply connected to this land. It grounds me, teaching resilience 
through harsh conditions and dramatic seasonal change. Glass enamel paints create soft transitions of colour, while layered glass evokes sky and vegetation in motion. This piece invites stillness, reflection, and belonging. Here in the calm rhythm of the land I rest. - Sheryl Salen, artist
