20. Prairie Lily Embrace
Wool, mohair, indigo, onion skins, eucalyptus dyes; wet felting
110 x 30 x 10 cm
"Barbara Schmidt began raising angora goats producing mohair which revived an interest in knitting and crochet, and a love of working with natural fibre. When she was introduced to felting, she was drawn to the tactile nature of this medium. The collar features sculptural lilies nestled in the mohair locks from the angora goat. Thirteen lilies represent the provinces and territories of Canada. The needle felted picture is a soft impression of our beautiful Saskatchewan skies."
