Fox-Chain
Wool, horsehair, beeswax fabric hardener, internal wire structure; Needle felting
50 x 225 x 20 cm
Fox-Chain is a reference to the food chain from the perspective of a fox. The art piece features a needle-felted, life-size fox, hare, and carrot. The fox chases the hare while the hare pursues the carrot; each organism occupies its specific position within this particular food chain. Fox-Chain emphasizes each species and its focus on its very own survival. The artwork illustrates the harsh realities of nature, representing a natural succession where the survival of one species or individual leads to the demise of another. The population of foxes and hares are particularly interdependent, creating a correlated cycle of life. - Heike Fink, artist
