My practice engages ceramics as historical record-keepers, embedding contemporary narratives into forms meant to endure. Roe v Wade is one such vessel, layered with illustrations chronicling the ongoing fight for abortion rights and the broader erosion of women’s rights. Drawing from historical references and graphic novel aesthetics, the imagery acts as a visual archive—capturing this urgent political moment and its cyclical nature. By inscribing these stories into clay, the vessel becomes both witness and testament. Through form, surface, and narrative, my work reflects on how today’s struggles will be remembered—and the fragile balance between progress and regression. - Carole Epp, artist
