I grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada, hunting, fishing, boating, canoeing and exploring what’s over the next hill. A knife has always been an essential tool for these activities.
I became aware of knife making around 1990 and was immediately fascinated by everything about it. I made my first knife around 1991. I am still using knives 1, 2, and 3 on my hunting trips. I found that custom knife makers were able to use superior steels to factory knives (of that time) and harden and temper them to give them a knife with greater edge holding and toughness. A custom knife maker could also impart beauty into each knife with the lines, curves, handle materials and what may be limitless design options even in a functional knife. I have to thank my wonderful and supportive wife and family who allow me the freedom of many hours in the shop and encourage and inspire me to do my best.
