Evan Quick

1950 - 2023

Born and raised in Regina, Evan Quick's prairie roots ran deep. He earned a BFA Honours cum laude in 1976, receiving the Judy Poole award upon graduation. Outside the pottery studio, Quick was a world traveller, trekker, athlete, gardener, and reader, with the two world wars being a subject of keen interest. He worked for Air Canada for 35 years, retiring at the end of 2012. Art and art history were always a constant and he was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council in 1975. Although his career took his focus away from ceramics, he returned to his art practice in 2013. In Dimensions 2019, Quick received the Leslie Potter Award for Excellence in Sculpture and was featured in a duo exhibition with Charley Farrero at the Saskatchewan Craft Council Gallery in 2023.
