"These pieces are strongly influence by my love of natural motifs. The printed leaves are embellished with embroidery, the background mimicking the wallpaper. Here you can see the influence of the work of textile artist May Morris and the wallpapers designed by May and her father, William Morris. As a textile artist I think that it is important to know and understand the design and techniques used by those artists that came before us. Work like this gives me tremendous joy to create. I enjoy knowing that I have long hours of stitching and fine detail work ahead of me. It is meditative work." - Dawn Rogal
