The theme “From Scratch” was very much a challenge to someone who works in clay and stone: which to choose? Stone represents finding an image in a given mass by manipulating the existing dimensions, whereas, clay requires manipulation and building up, of the flat, malleable material into a form/s which previously never existed. Clay became the medium of choice loosely applying the one definition of ‘making without using anything that already exists’ – the results are presented.
